This is Under The Amber Lights, our recurring celebration of local sound, good beer, and the kind of low-key Wednesday that turns into your new favourite night out in Kelowna.

Free Lung is the musical project of Dustin McGifford, a multi-instrumentalist who builds every song from the ground up in his home studio, layering melody, arrangement, and lyric until it feels just right. His music leans warm and uplifting, but it’s not afraid to get thoughtful, songs that draw on real life, real observation, and a genuine curiosity about the world. As the project’s own guiding words put it: “May our lungs sing what’s in our hearts. Free expression, free love, free thought.” That spirit shows up in every live set, where studio precision gives way to something looser and more emotive, the kind of performance that pulls a room in rather than just filling the background.

It’s a fitting match for Vice & Virtue, a brewery built around the idea that a night out should mean actual connection. No rush, just great craft beer, thoughtfully made food, and a room full of people genuinely listening.
