Under the Amber Lights Featuring Michael Averill

Wednesday, July 29 at 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Story driven folk, blues, and humour from a seasoned traveller

Under The Amber Lights Live Music Series returns to Vice & Virtue Brewing on Wednesday, July 29 from 7 to 9pm with a free live performance by Michael Averill.

For more than two decades, Michael Averill has travelled the world as a musician, storyteller, and community builder, connecting with audiences across four continents through music, conversation, and shared experience. Known for his thoughtful perspective and engaging stage presence, Michael creates performances that are equal parts entertaining, reflective, and deeply human.

His remarkable journey has included a 4,000 mile walk across Canada, an experience that further shaped his passion for connection, curiosity, and storytelling. These themes weave naturally throughout his music, inviting audiences into stories that explore life, relationships, adventure, and the unexpected moments that bring people together.

Musically, Michael moves effortlessly between southern lap steel slide blues, intricate fingerstyle folk, and spirited singalong shanties. One moment audiences may find themselves immersed in philosophical reflections and rich storytelling, while the next they are laughing along to a song about mismatched socks. This balance of sincerity and playfulness has become a hallmark of his performances.

Combining buttery guitar work, memorable melodies, and thoughtful wordplay, Michael creates a live experience that feels conversational and engaging from beginning to end. His ability to connect with audiences of all backgrounds makes every performance feel welcoming, authentic, and unique.

The spirit of Michael’s music fits naturally within the atmosphere of Vice & Virtue. Gather around the table with friends, order a round of craft beer brewed on site, share a few chef crafted plates, and settle in for an evening where stories and songs flow as naturally as the conversation. It is the kind of performance that reminds us why live music remains one of the best ways to connect with each other and our community.
